In recent years, the composition of the so-called “big four” clubs has changed with the inclusion of teams such as Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur. The popularity of the APL and the increase in television contracts has had a negative impact on the national championships of other soccer nations. The Premier League Championship trophy weighs 25 kilograms and is silver gilded. In the 2023/24 season, the APL includes 20 different clubs. Until 2010, APL clubs were able to contract players from any country with virtually no restrictions, but since the 2010/11 season, a limit on the number of players on the clubs’ roster was introduced.
